A$AP Rocky is heading to trial, following a judge’s rejection of his lawyer’s motion to dismiss his assault case. The father of two is also getting a new trial date and will appear in court this November. Following the judge’s decision, Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, spoke out on the rapper’s behalf. “We understood the likelihood of success on this motion was slim. It’s just part of the process,” he told legal reporter, Meghann Cuniff.” Tacopina added, “Rocky and his family are very eager to get this thing to trial.”

The Harlem-bred rap star allegedly shot his former friend, Terell Ephron. According to court documents, the 2021 incident left Ephron with a grazed hand. Following his November arrest, Rocky plead not guilty to two counts of first-degree assault involving a semi-automatic firearm. While the case’s outcome is uncertain, Rocky is concentrating on one thing: fatherhood.
What’s Next for the Rapper?
Rocky has completely embraced fatherhood. He and Rihanna recently celebrated his youngest son, Riot’s second birthday. “HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY TO MY 2ND BORN SON RIOT ROSE MAYERS [heart emoji],” he wrote in an Instagram post on August 2. He and the Fenty Beauty founder, share two children, Riot and RZA. Back in June, the rapper was featured in a new campaign for Bottega Veneta campaign with his sons. Rocky told GQ, that being a father has “changed his outlook” on life.
“It’s about putting a different lens on my life. It reflects my state of mind, [and] my taste preferences. It feels mature.” On the music side of things, Rocky is preparing to drop his long-awaited LP, Don’t Be Dumb, on August 30. During a recent chat with Zane Lowe, the rapper revealed that none of the tracks that leaked earlier this year will appear on the project.”I might perform [them] here and there,” he said. “But if it’s leaked, it is what it is.”
