Alicia Keys Named 2025 Recipient Of Dr. Dre Global Impact Award

Alicia Keys will receive another accolade in her iconic career as the recipient of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.

According to Billboard, the ceremony will take place at the fourth annual Recording Academy Honors during Grammy Week at the Fairmont Century Plaza on Jan. 30.

In 2023, the award was created to “recognize artists whose influence extends far beyond music.” And to “celebrate not only musical excellence but also entrepreneurial achievements, philanthropic efforts, and a profound impact on a global scale.”

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, spoke glowingly about Keys in an official statement.

“From her timeless music to her unwavering dedication to uplifting others, Alicia has made an indelible impact on the world, Mason wrote.

“Alicia embodies everything the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award represents,” he continued. “Key’s artistry knows no bounds, her advocacy inspires meaningful change. Her influence has profoundly shaped culture and we are honored to celebrate her extraordinary legacy. And the transformative contributions she continues to make in music and beyond.” 

In her illustrious career, Keys has won 16 Grammys and has four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Five of her albums have landed at No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

Songs in A Minor (2001), her debut album garnered critical acclaim and sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

Key’s signature hits include, “Fallin”, “You Don’t Know My Name”, “If I Ain’t Got You”, and “Diary” to name a few.

In addition to her music, she is also a best-selling author and a successful entrepreneur. For her latest venture, she produced a Broadway play with her semi-autobiographical play, Hell’s Kitchen.

Opening at the Shubert Theatre in New York on April 20, Hell’s Kitchen is still playing. At the Tony Awards, the play received 13 Tony nominations. Maleah Joi Moon won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. Kecia Lewis won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.

Keys joins an elite company of past winners of the award. Previous recipients include Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, Missy Elliott, Sylvia Rhone, and JAY-Z.
