Like the NFL, American Airlines capitalizes on Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs Tight End, and Taylor Swift’s new relationship with a new Super Bowl-destined flight to Las Vegas that references the couple’s signature numbers created after the Chiefs won the AFC championships on Sunday, Jan. 28.
It was revealed on Sunday evening by Alex Garcia on X that the airline launched a scheduled round trip flight from Kansas City to Las Vegas during the week of Super Bowl LVIII, with the flight number “1989” and “87” which is in reference to Taylor Swift’s fifth album and Kelce football number.
“Smart marketing move by American Airlines after the Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC championship: They created a flight from Kansas City to Las Vegas. The flight number is 1989. Which is one of Taylor Swift’s albums. The return flight from Vegas to Kansas City has the flight number 87. Travis Kelce’s number. Since their relationship was revealed while she attended her first game last September, Swift has generated an estimated 331.5 million for the NFL – according to Front Office Sports. Billboard reported that Kelce’s jersey sales increased 400% after Swift’s first game appearance.
Swift and Kelce shared their first publicized kiss on Sunday following the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore, Maryland.
Multiple outlets have reported that Swift’s appearance at the Super Bowl is uncertain due to her touring schedule. It was revealed on Monday, Jan. 29, that Swift will be attending the Grammys; however, she will not perform.
