André 3000 Opens Up About Moving On From Rap

André 3000 surprised the Hip Hop community with his fresh album, “New Blue Sun,” which stands apart from his earlier work. He’s now shared that this shift in his style wasn’t intentional or part of a big plan.

Earlier this week, André 3000 showed off his latest music at the Luna Luna art show in Los Angeles. Someone recorded a video of the Outkast star, where he stopped for a bit to talk about why he’s doing things differently now.

“‘How you just gon’ be rapping and then just get on stage playing fucking flutes? Like, I didn’t plan to be the flute n-gga,” he mentioned.

“I didn’t plan to be that. It just kinda, like, it happened. When I started rapping, I didn’t know what it would be. It was just me and Big Boi at the crib watching rap videos.”

He continued by saying “We all making this shit up as we go along. We have intentions but we don’t really know.”

In a recent interview with High Snobiety, André 3000 discussed how Big Boi reacted to his new music and how this led to the album being played for Big Boi’s other friends. André mentioned that as a child, he initially envisioned himself becoming a visual artist, but his discovery of rap videos changed his trajectory.

This willingness to explore different avenues of creativity has been a consistent aspect of André’s approach.

Back in December, André 3000 was questioned about whether Big Boi has ever encouraged him to reunite since their last collaboration.  He answered, “No but I think because he knows who I am and knows what gets me going, knows what inspires me, knows when I’m excited about something.”
