In a new interview with Billboard, A$AP Rocky reveals that his Don’t Be Dumb project won’t be coming any time soon. At one time, the project was slated to be dropped off on August 30, but according to the father of two, that is no longer the case. Rocky blames the leaks for “ruining” his excitement around the release: “At this point I’ve been working on music for six years, but they leak my music and I get over it and say, ‘F*ck it,’ ” he tells the outlet.

A$AP Rocky continues: “They leak a lot of the music and it ruins it. Like my ‘Taylor Swift’ video. I was pissed off about it, so I never released it.” (Side note: Rocky is referring to mind-bending visual he put out referencing the pop star last year). Despite the constant delays, Rocky admitted the wait would be worthwhile. The rapper claims this is the “best album he’s ever made.”

A$AP Rocky Calls Upcoming Project His ‘Best Album’ Ever Made

The father of two also discussed one of the tracks on the forthcoming project, “Shroom Cloud.” A$AP Rocky says it’s about the “current affairs and world wars and, you know, the world dying and whatnot.” He continued: “At times like this, only two types of people strive and survive. I’m not trying to sound like I’m glorifying wars, [but] I think artists and druggies, they make it through. I mean, what was the hippies doing? They was getting high at Woodstock and f*cking and having a great time and having these hippie babies who subsequently had us.”

The rapper’s last project — an LP titled, Testing — was released in 2018. He tapped on industry heavyweights like Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Skepta, French Montana, and Kodak Black for features. In a 2023 interview with DAZED, A$AP Rocky said he wanted to experiment and “leave his expectations” open regarding his upcoming album. He added, “I don’t want to tell you what to expect. I just want people to experience it how they do naturally.”
