Barack Obama recites classic Eminem on Tuesday evening (Oct. 22) in support of presidential candidates Vice-President Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz in Detroit.

As it was expected for the Rap God to steal the spotlight at a Motor City rally, but it was former President who delivered the most talked-about moment. Obama surprised the crowd by performing a flawless rendition of Eminem’s iconic track, “Lose Yourself,” sparking excitement among the audience.

In a powerful speech before Obama took the stage, Eminem urged voters to support Kamala Harris. Addressing the crowd, the Detroit icon spoke passionately about the importance of Michigan in the upcoming election.

“The city of Detroit and the whole state of Michigan mean a lot to me,” said Em. “This election puts a big spotlight on us, and it’s more important than ever to use your voice. I’m encouraging everybody—please, get out and vote.”

Taking a subtle shot at Donald Trump, Eminem continued his commentary about politics. With that, he introduced President Obama, who delivered his own sharp remarks.

He added “People shouldn’t be afraid to share their opinions. No one wants an America where people fear backlash for speaking out. I believe Vice President Harris supports a future where these freedoms, and many others, are protected and upheld.”

Obama’s appearance was marked by a series of jabs aimed at Trump, particularly mocking the former president’s recent campaign efforts, which he likened to “hawking merch.” Obama pointed out the contrast between Harris’ humble beginnings, including a job at McDonald’s, and Trump’s obsession with crowd sizes and self-promotion. His playful critiques captivated the crowd, ensuring the night belonged to him.

Eminem’s support for Harris wasn’t his first. The rapper famously endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020, even allowing his song “Lose Yourself” to be used in a campaign ad, cementing his position as an advocate for the ticket. This election season, Eminem’s continued involvement reminds fans of his deep connection to Detroit and his influence in politics.
