Fans have been claiming J. Cole dissed Benny The Butcher on the track “Johnny P’s Caddy,” which was released in 2022. Tired of the trolls, Benny addressed the claims in his new album, Summertime Butch, on the track “The Blue Building.”

Shutting down the speculations, Benny raps, “Trolls tell me I got dissed by Cole on my record / I’m like, ‘Is y’all slow?’ That’s my n*gga / We having hour-long conversations from home / I’m picking his brain on my way to the throne, I ain’t no dumb n*gga / I ain’t get here focusing on figures alone, I played more of the distributor role / He told me, ‘Butch, if you see yourself winning, you got a vision to throw.”

On “Johnny P’s Caddy,” fans accused Cole of sending a subliminal diss to Benny The Butcher in the lines, “Of course I’m tryin’ to revive a sport that’s dyin’ / But the guns and the drug bars that y’all relyin … Cole World, the heat’ll blast through your speaker / He the last of Mohicans, no weaklings last in my sneakers / N*gga want me on a song, he gon’ see the wrath of the reaper.”

The Butcher originally addressed the claims in October 2023. At the BET Awards 2023, he told HipHopDX that Cole’s verse on the track is the best guest verse he’s ever done. “Honestly, ‘Johnny P’s Caddy,’ I have to rank it at the top,” Benny said. “Ya’ll know why. He’s on there with another spitter. I don’t know bro. I gotta go check that [Yachty] song out. I was listening to it the other day. I’ma listen to it better but, I think Johnny P’s Caddy, Cole verse still got the best title.”

Benny’s latest album features Rick Hyde, ElCamino, Ed Lover, Fuego Base, Ray Moon, and Lindsay Niccs.
