BlocBoy JB was arrested in Memphis after Tennessee Highway Patrol officers found him asleep at a red light with a loaded gun on his lap. According to HotNewHipHop, police discovered 12.4 grams of marijuana and a firearm in his car. He now faces charges for obstruction, driving with a revoked license, illegal firearm possession, and marijuana possession. His license had been revoked previously after a DUI.

Reportedly, BlocBoy was booked into Shelby County Jail on October 1st and released after posting a $7,500 bond the following day. He is slated for a court appearance on October 3rd. Since his arrest, the rapper has remained silent. The incident occurred after BlocBoy publicly defended Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, following controversy over Morant’s gun-flashing incident, suggesting that the possession of firearms isn’t inherently unlawful and that athletes should be free to live as they wish during their personal time.

BlocBoy stated last year, “Guns are not illegal.” He continued, “If he turnt in his car with his gun dats in his name in his yard and somebody recorded him dat ain’t on him. Free Ja.” This sentiment wasn’t well received, especially given that Morant had faced a similar predicament before.
