Brandon Bills is pressing forward with his lawsuit against DaBaby, following a violent clash that occurred in February 2022. The altercation took place at a bowling alley, where Bills, the brother of rapper DaniLeigh, alleges that DaBaby assaulted him without provocation. This incident has led to a lawsuit in which Bills claims to have suffered significant physical and emotional harm.
Recent court documents reveal that Bills is seeking a total of $4 million in damages. According to In Touch Weekly, Bills is requesting $2 million in general damages and another $2 million in special damages. He asserts that these damages are needed to cover “severe injuries, psychological damage, and medical bills” incurred from the altercation.
The lawsuit process has been fraught with difficulties, particularly in terms of serving DaBaby with the legal papers. In April, Bills sought permission from the court to place a newspaper advertisement as an alternative way to notify DaBaby of the lawsuit. This measure was approved, allowing Bills to move forward with this approach after several failed attempts to personally serve the rapper. Since July 2023, Bills has struggled to get the lawsuit into DaBaby’s hands, despite employing a process server, trying various addresses in North Carolina and California, and hiring a private investigator.
In addition to this lawsuit, DaBaby is dealing with another legal issue. Last month, he accepted a plea deal related to an assault case from 2020. The case involves an incident where DaBaby is accused of assaulting a 65-year-old man who had confronted him about overcrowding at a rented home used for a music video shoot.
As Brandon Bills continues his legal battle, the ongoing issues for DaBaby add another layer of complexity to the situation, with both parties navigating a challenging legal landscape.
