During a recent interview on CNN’s NewsNight, rapper Cam’ron addressed the disturbing video showing Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting Cassie Ventura.
When asked if he recognized that side of Combs, Cam’ron expressed his disapproval of the behavior captured in the video, emphasizing that he does not consider Combs a friend. He described feeling upset upon seeing the video, stating that he did not closely examine it to confirm Combs’ identity but accepted Combs’ admission.
The footage, released by the outlet, depicted Combs throwing Ventura to the ground, kicking her, dragging her down a hallway, and throwing objects at her. When asked about Combs’ apology video, Cam’ron redirected the focus to Ventura, suggesting that her opinion on the apology matters most.
“Everything in the video is egregious, I’m against,” Cam said to CNN’s Abby Phillip, clarifying that he doesn’t consider Combs a friend. “So when I saw the video, I was kinda upset being that I know him.”
During the interview, a clip from Cam’ron’s podcast conversation with rapper Mase was played, where Mase explained why he took Cam’ron to The Notorious B.I.G. instead of signing with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. Cam’ron appeared visibly frustrated when questioned about Combs’ behavior in the music industry.
“The apology ain’t for me, it’s for Cassie,” Cam’ron said in response. “He ain’t do nothing for me. What I think about it don’t matter. You need to ask Cassie if she accepts the apology. I said what I said.”
Taking a sip of his PinkHorsePower supplement, Cam’ron responded, expressing his limited knowledge of Combs’ actions compared to Mase’s. He appreciated Mase’s perspective but indicated that he couldn’t provide insight into Combs’ behavior.
Cam’ron also promoted his podcast during the interview, expressing confusion about the focus on Combs’ actions. When asked about Combs’ protection by influential figures in the industry, Cam’ron questioned the intentions behind his invitation to the interview.
“Who’s the talent agent for this joint? You think I be sitting around watching what Diddy do? I didn’t know this was a Diddy joint that y’all invited me to. Who booked me for this joint?”
Following the interview, Cam’ron took to Instagram to express his frustration, questioning why he was invited to CNN in the first place. Meanwhile, Combs faces multiple lawsuits alleging various forms of misconduct, including rape and sexual misconduct, further complicating the situation.
