Cam’ron Hit $50K Fine For Copyright Infringement Of His Own Photo

Cam’ron must pay a $50,000 fine for copyright infringement regarding an iconic image of him from the early 00s, where he’s pictured in a pink fur coat and matching cell phone, and he had icy rings covering his hand. The famous photo was taken in February 2003 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

On Thursday (February 15), a New Jersey judge ruled that the Dipset rapper was guilty of committing copyright infringement and will have to pay photographer Djamilla Cochran $40,530 in statutory damages, plus the $10,691 for Cohcran’s lawyer fees, Billboard reports.

“Defendant Dipset Couture LLC, without permission or authorization from Plaintiff, actively copied and displayed the Photograph on the Website as part of various product listings (‘Merchandise Listings’) and engaged in this misconduct knowingly and in violation of the United States copyright laws,” the lawsuit read.
