Cardi B is speaking out about the treatment of her friend Star Brim at FCI Hazelton, a correctional facility in West Virginia. Cardi alleges that the prison has not only been mishandling Brim’s mail but has also been neglecting basic conditions such as heat in the cells. According to Cardi, Brim hasn’t received any mail since November, which she points out is a federal offense. Cardi voiced her concerns on social media, saying, “Hazleton female correctional facility in West Virginia needs to be under investigation. They been playing with my friend star mail, which right there is a federal offense she hasn’t gotten mail since November, which makes no sense.”
Cardi also claimed that the facility is denying inmates proper heating, even in freezing temperatures. “They don’t be having heat in the rooms for the inmates, and it’s below 0 degrees,” Cardi said. Brim has allegedly reached out to the facility’s administrator, Mrs. Parrigan, and unit manager, Mr. McCall, without receiving any responses. Cardi revealed that Brim even contacted her case manager, but he has been absent for a month, and no one is providing any information about his return.
Cardi expressed frustration over the lack of accountability, adding that the facility officials at Hazelton may be purposely mistreating Brim due to her connection with the rapper. Brim is currently serving a year-long sentence for her involvement in a RICO case.
Brim had initially requested a delay in surrendering to prison to take her son to his first day of kindergarten. After spending her last night with Cardi, she turned herself in September. In an Instagram Live, Cardi offered her friend words of encouragement, saying, “This is a reset… when she graduates from big girl school, it’s going to be a whole brand new everything.”
