On Wednesday, Aug. 21, Cardi B fired shots at trolls on X after being accused of skin-bleaching while pregnant with her third child. The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker ripped a user who tweeted, “Has Cardi been bleaching her skin? [flush-faced emoji]”
Due to an unexpected angle in which the camera flash caught Cardi, the user assumed she was lighter than usual. The assumption led to the igniting remark.
Cardi quoted the tweet and wrote: “Bleaching while pregnant? Why must yall be so dumb? Actually NO! I’m pregnant I’m slightly anemic, this baby suckin’ all the energy off my body to the point I’m pale, eyes sunken, veins green ASF, can’t tan under the sun cause I get hot super fast, and dizzy …. PLEASE STOP THINKIN WITH YOUR ASSHOLE!”
The recent accusations mark the second time Cardi had to defend herself in 2024. In May, she hosted an Instagram Live to address the body-shaming comments about her appearance at a Las Vegas performance at Drai’s Nightclub.
Her third pregnancy has been met with a divorce announcement, a copyright lawsuit, and a freak accident. After it was announced she had filed for divorce a second time, she revealed she was expecting her third child with Offset.
In music, Cardi B confirmed she will be releasing her long-awaited sophomore album in 2024. While no release date or album title has been revealed, last week, she shared that the album cover’s photo has been shot and selected. To promote her upcoming album, she has released two new singles: “Enough” and “Like What.”
After her award-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy, released in 2018, she will release her second album this year. The debut included chart-topping hits “I Like It,” “Ring,” and “Drip.”
The album won Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019.
