Donald Glover has announced exciting news for fans of his musical alter ego, Childish Gambino, revealing that he has not one but two new albums in the works. The 40-year-old artist fulfilled his promise made in a recent tweet by previewing new music during an Instagram Live stream. During this stream, Glover surprised his audience with details about his upcoming releases.
“We’re releasing Atavista, but after that, there’s the final Childish Gambino album, a soundtrack for the fans,” Glover teased during the stream, as reported by Uproxx. He also mentioned that the final Gambino record would be titled “Bando Stone & The New World.”
Prior to hosting the GILGA Radio stream on Instagram, Glover had hinted about sharing music during the broadcast. Responding to a fan’s query about playing music, Glover confidently replied, “Of course. It’s a rollout dummy.”
During the stream, Glover treated fans to a preview of a song tentatively titled “Human Sacrifice” and shared updated versions of tracks from his 2020 album “3.15.20,” which is set to be re-released as “Atavista.” Notably, he played a revised version of “35.31,” featuring updated production and a verse from Young Nudy, expressing gratitude to his patient and supportive fans: “My fans are great and have been so patient and are starving—this album is for you guys,” he remarked during the stream.
Glover’s recent musical contributions include guest features on songs like Summer Walker’s “New Type” and Jason Martin and DJ Quik’s “MORE DOLLARS, MORE SENSE 1994.” Additionally, he appeared as a surprise guest during Tyler, The Creator’s Coachella performance to perform “Running Out of Time.”
Outside of his music endeavors, Glover has been active in acting, most notably starring in the new Amazon Prime series, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” As for the release date of “Atavista,” Glover has not yet provided specific details, but the project’s rollout has begun, exciting fans who eagerly await its arrival.
