Chlöe Bailey joins her sister on the campaign trail as she encourages Gen-Z to show up to the polls in November in her new interview with Glamour UK.
The magazine named her Musician of the Year among their Women of the Year. In her interview, she expressed the importance of the upcoming election. “There was a time when people who looked like me didn’t have the opportunity to vote. I’m a Black woman in 2024 who can make my voice heard — who can actually vote for another woman of color to possibly be president,” Chlöe shared. “For this generation, no matter which way they go, it is important to place our vote and let our voices be heard.”
As a result of Roe v. Wade being overturned in 2022, Chlöe expressed her concern regarding the ongoing battle for women’s rights. “We’ve made so much progress—I can walk into any store as a Black woman, and I can express myself freely through my music,” she explained. “But it’s heartbreaking to see us still fighting the same battles for basic rights, like control over our own bodies. There’s still a long way to go in the fight for true equality.”
In November, the U.S. will vote on either the return of former President Donald Trump or the first ever woman President in Vice President Kamala Harris. Both have been on the campaign trail after debating on September 10.
Last week, her sister Halle Bailey performed her hit song “Angel” at Kamala Harris’ Los Angeles fundraiser. The event raised $28 million. After the performance, Halle shared a post on Instagram, captioned: “Some might hate and they wait on your fall, they don’t know there’s a grace for it all [music note emoji]. omg omg pinch me i came straight off the plane from Paris to sing for our beautiful vice president @kamalaharri. Thank you for inviting me it was an honor to sing today.”
While the sisters haven’t been a duo in several years now, their solo careers continue to flourish. In August, Chlöe released her second solo album, Trouble in Paradise. The album features Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, and Halle.
Following the birth of her first child in 2023, Halle made her return to music this summer with the release of her new single “Because I Love You.” A new album is in the works.
