Chris Brown is the focus of an upcoming documentary, Chris Brown: A History of Violence, set to release later this month on Investigation Discovery. The documentary will examine the singer’s controversial past, which is marked by allegations of domestic violence, assault, and more. It will also include testimonies from some of his alleged victims, shedding light on the lasting impact of his actions.
One of the accusers, who appeared anonymously in the documentary trailer, has now come forward. Liziane Gutierrez revealed her involvement in a recent Instagram post, where she opened up about the criticism she’s faced for sharing her story. “Liar, clout chaser, ridiculous are just some of the things I have heard over the years since I decided to tell what happened to me. I’m not sure if I’m psychologically ready to face the consequences of appearing in this documentary, including financial consequences since I signed a non-disclosure agreement,” Gutierrez wrote.
Despite these concerns, Gutierrez feels a responsibility to speak up. “Several women agreed to participate and share their stories. We all went through a similar situation. We can’t be against domestic violence and simply ignore some cases, or even worse, blame the victim,” she added.
Chris Brown: A History of Violence is scheduled to premiere on ID on October 27, according to Variety. The documentary will be followed by a discussion led by Sunny Hostin, focusing on intimate partner violence.
