Ciara, Missy Elliott, Timbaland & More Remember Fatman Scoop

Fans and celebrities alike have been reacting to the passing of legendary hype-man, Fatman Scoop. Ciara, Missy Elliot, and Timbaland were just a few stars who paid tribute to the New York native.

“Prayers for Fatman Scoop family for STRENGTH during this difficult time,” Missy wrote. “Fatman Scoop VOICE & energy have contributed to MANY songs that made the people feel HAPPY & want to dance for over 2 decades. Your IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten.”

Back in 2020, Missy share dBTS footage of the story behind her hit “Lose Control.” The track is part of Missy Elliott’s sixth studio album, The Cookbook. “Lose Control” also features an appearance by Ciara. “WOW!!! NEVER SEEN BEFORE [fire emoji] This is my session to my song Lose Control 15 YEARS AGO [shocked emoji] with @ciara & @fatmanscoop this the first time anyone seeing it & the creation of scoop chants/adlibs that he did by looking at Ciara dancing from in the booth[hand emoji] [fire emoji],” she wrote.

It didn’t take long for word to spread about Scoop’s death. Ciara quickly followed up with her own post about the late rapper and DJ. “Rest Easy at
@FatmanScoop! You were truly one of the best voices in hip-hop! I’m so glad I got to experience your greatness! We will all miss you greatly [heart emoji],” she posted on X.

Whereas, Timbaland offered his condolences via Instagram. The post consists of a black-and-white photo of Fatman Scoop surrounded by his accolades.

Fatman Scoop Dies At 53

“Man I’m lost for words [cry emoji] Drop was the song I start off with on tour [cry emoji]Rest easy[crown emoji] [prayer hands emoji] [dove emoji] @fatmanscoop,” Timbaland wrote in the post’s caption.

Tim’s comment section filled up with condolences from other artists like Swizz Beatz, Lady London, and Denzel Curry. Even Juicy J wanted to share a heartfelt message about Fatman Scoop’s passing. “Rest in peace, to the Legend Fat man Scoop,” he wrote on X.

On Saturday (Aug.31), Fatman Scoop’s tour manager Birch Micheal, aka Pure Cold, confirmed the rapper and hype-man’s death on Instagram. The iconic entertainer was 56 at the time of his death. To date, there has no been information about what exactly led to his death.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Issac Freeman III, professionally known as Fatman Scoop.” He continued: “I am honestly lost for words … you took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truely made me the man I am today.”
