Cory Hardrict responds to Divorce in the Black critics.
TMZ caught up with the movie star and asked about the film’s success. “Yeah, listen, I’m in Mr. Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black. It’s the number one movie in the world. I’m excited, man,” he said of the movie. “Number one movie in the world right now! Listen, I’m excited.”
When asked about Rotten Tomatoes 0% rating, Hardrict says, “I don’t know nothing about it,” he said. “I didn’t see that. I mean, the people love the movie and we do it for the people–that’s who I do it for. If the culture’s rocking with it, it’s all love. Shoutout Mr. Perry, I love Mr. Perry, though. That’s my guy.”
He goes on to say, “everyone has an opinion, and they’re entitled to it.”He continued, “so it’s fine. But as long as the people see it, my neighborhood see it, South Side, Chicago, L.A. see it, everybody see it, then I’m happy, it’s all love.”
We previously reported that comedian Loni Love shared her sentiments towards Tyler Perry following reports of low movie ratings.
According to Screen Rant, Tyler Perry’s newest film Divorce in the Black “nabs a shocking and exceedingly rare 0% score on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer.”
Love reposted the tweet from SR and wrote, “I love that Tyler is paying Black actors now I wish he would hire Black writers and directors that have experience to help him with his movies…”
She added, “He could improve the movies & make them award worthy if he would stop trying to save money by doing the writing and directing himself.”
TMZ asked Hardrict if he’s seen Love’s comments, he said he hasn’t- however- filming this film was “the most incredible experience” he’s had making a movie.
“He takes care of his actors, it’s a loving set and we’re gonna do it again,” he says of Tyler Perry.
