CultureCon New York had 3,500 attendees and 100 speakers

The fourth annual CultureCon took place on October 8th at Brooklyn’s Duggal Greenhouse. Founded by Imani Ellis in 2016, CultureCon is the fastest-growing conference for creatives and changemakers of color who plan to elevate their social network and leave a mark on culture.

This year CultureCon made it’s return to Brooklyn attracting attendees from NYC and out of the country. The Brooklyn location was the last stop of this year’s first ever three-city tour. The tour kicked off in Atlanta featuring speakers such as Jay Ellis, Saucy Santana, Stacey Abrams, and Kandi Burress. In June, the CCNYC team traveled to Los Angeles for a pre-Juneteenth celebration. Then finally, the tour concluded on October 8th for an Ultimate Homecoming experience.

CultureCon New York’s festivities started October 3 with a mixture of events leading up to the marquee conference on October 8th. The week’s programming included exclusive screenings, networking events, and workshops. The main conference included heavy hitter panelists such as Lena Waithe, Taraji P. Henson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kendrick Sampson, Meagan Good, and Tabitha Brown who dropped major gems on the Culture stage.

In addition to the panels, guests had the chance to attend Activation Alley, a dedicated space for immersive activations. Footlocker/Reebok created a modern pop up experience featuring a Reebok bodega corner store with custom branded items on display. Amazon Prime created a theater experience with customizable bucket hats. LinkedIn created an enchanting headshot set up. Grey Goose and Patron returned to CultureCon offering custom cocktails throughout the campus. OWN/Onyx offered a beauty experience in promotion for new show, “The Hair Tales”. Activation Alley also included a Small Business Market featuring black and brown owned businesses.

To the dreamer that doesn’t know which path to take:

“I have so much to say to you. Understanding what your unique zone of genius is. What that thing is that no one can do quite like you and finding a way to reorient your life to spend more time doing that thing is how you’ll make your best work and figure out where you’re supposed to be” – Elaine Welteroth
