DaBaby has launched a heartfelt initiative in honor of his late brother, aimed at addressing the critical issue of mental health.

Titled DaBaby Cares, the program was unveiled during Suicide Prevention Month with a mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health through the Glenn Johnson for Mental Health initiative. The project is named after DaBaby’s brother, Glenn Johnson, who tragically took his own life in 2020. In response, the rapper is using his platform to create a resource hub offering vital mental health support, particularly for young people.

Reflecting on his brother’s passing, DaBaby shared a deeply personal message on the initiative’s website, emphasizing the urgent need for mental health awareness.

“On November 3rd, 2020, my brother Glenn Johnson committed suicide, leaving behind three beautiful daughters and an amazing son,” he wrote. “I believe that if more of the right resources were available to support mental health awareness and self-love, the world would witness far fewer of these tragedies.”

Driven by the desire to provide effective tools for battling mental health issues, DaBaby is committed to breaking the cycle of untreated mental illness, especially in minority communities where discussions around mental health are often silenced. Through DaBaby Cares, he seeks to normalize these conversations, helping to foster healing and understanding.

As part of the initiative, DaBaby Cares has partnered with Mental Health America of Central Carolinas to create a free Mental Health 101 Toolkit, offering valuable resources to his fans worldwide. DaBaby’s message is clear: “Join me in my journey to save lives, one step at a time, and prevent families around the world from experiencing the unbearable pain of losing a loved one.”

By merging his personal experience with advocacy, DaBaby is creating a platform that not only honors his brother’s memory but also extends hope and support to those facing similar struggles.
