On Monday, September 30, during NBA Media Day for the Milwaukee Bucks, point guard Damian Lillard addressed rumors about his relationship with rapper GloRilla, whom he met earlier this year in February. When asked for an update, Lillard emphasized that his personal life is just that—personal.
“I keep my personal life personal,” Lillard said. “I respect her as an artist. We know each other, but as far as anything else, there’s nothing going on. That’s all I can tell you.”
The speculation began after the two met at the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in Indiana, where they were photographed together. Following the encounter, GloRilla posted a series of tweets, one of which playfully asked, “Who [does] this man belong to? ‘Cause I want him #GetEmGlo.” In another post, she confidently declared, “Whoever she’s with can’t whoop me, so I really don’t care.”
Her comments caught the attention of Lillard’s ex-wife, Kay’La Hanson, who filed for divorce in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. Fans quickly linked Lillard’s high-profile trade from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Bucks with his personal life, although neither he nor Hanson has commented on the speculation.
GloRilla revisited the topic in April during an interview with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast. When asked if her “shot” at Lillard had succeeded, she replied cryptically, “The half-court shot? At the end of the day, the day is going to end,” leaving room for interpretation.
GloRilla’s debut album, GLORIOUS, is set to release on October 11. The 15-track project, which includes popular songs like “Hollon” and “TGIF,” has already earned endorsements from stars like Rihanna and Victoria Monét. This will be GloRilla’s second major release in 2024, following her earlier project, Ehhthang Ehhthang.
