David Banner is reflecting on his recent viral comments about wanting to settle down with a wife and have children before he dies, emphasizing that all his accolades won’t mean a thing if he can’t pass them down.

In Los Angeles this week for the premiere of “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”—a miniseries drama featuring Kevin Hart, Terrence Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, and Taraji P. Henson—the “Cadillac On 22’s” rapper got candid about the importance of family, dropping wisdom that had everyone listening and paying attention.

“I’m tired. I want to find my wife, have some kids. We chase all of these esoteric goals, and sometimes we look back, and we left the things that really matter,” he said, in the viral clip. “I looked up one day, I had all of them, the music accolades, the film accolades, not all the ones that I want, but a lot of them. I had accomplished my goal, had chased my goal so long that when I looked up, I saw that I ran off and left everything else.”

Speaking with TMZ Hip Hop, Banner, 50, clarified he wasn’t fishing for attention. Instead, he explained that therapy helped him realize his successful music career and pro-Black activism led him to neglect his personal life.

“I don’t want to be just another single, childless bachelor in Hip Hop,” he said. “Without having children, I’ll feel like my memory will eventually be erased from history!” He also advises Black men to choose their partners wisely and shares pearls of wisdom from industry icons Big Daddy Kane and Snoop Dogg.

Regarding his ideal woman, Banner shares that he finds beauty in everyone. So, ladies, don’t be shy—slide into his DMs and make sure your conversation stands out.
