Joseph “Big Joe” Sherman, Diddy‘s former bodyguard, was recently implicated in a sexual assault lawsuit against the disgraced mogul. Despite the allegations, Sherman remains confident that the legal process will ultimately clear his name. Thalia Graves filed her complaint in a New York federal court late last month, alleging that in 2001, while she was dating an employee at Bad Boy Records, Diddy reached out to arrange a meeting. According to HipHopDX, he reportedly framed the conversation as a discussion about her partner’s “performance issues” at work.

The lawsuit details her claims of being raped by both Diddy and his former bodyguard, Joseph Sherman. However, in a recent interview with NBC New York, Sherman denied ever having met the woman, much less being involved in the alleged incident. He stated, “It’s a lie on me.” “I don’t know this lady from anywhere. […] I am not questioning her integrity. I am just questioning her claims against me. You got the wrong man. I wasn’t even in the same room with you. I have never seen you. I wasn’t even in New York that I recall at the time.” He continued, “Her and whoever she’s in cahoots with was orchestrating a money grab. And she wanted me to be part of that money grab…She wanted to get Diddy.”

Sherman Alleges Defamation, Video Exploitation

He also presented text messages and direct messages authenticated by NBC, revealing that the woman reached out in November 2023, seeking his assistance as a witness. One message requested that he call a particular number and said, “If you will be my witness against Diddy, then my attorneys will leave you out of any proceedings because we have statements that you physically showed over eight people videos of me and you to people in the studio.” Sherman voiced, “I am nothing but a scapegoat for this BS because I wouldn’t lie on Puffy — Sean Combs.” Sherman and his legal team intend to file a counterclaim for defamation.

In the initial lawsuit, the woman claimed, “Following the assault and multiple times over the years, both Combs and Sherman contacted Plaintiff and warned her to be silent, threatening repercussions including Plaintiff potentially losing custody of her son if she ever disclosed the assault.” In November 2023, the lawsuit claims that Graves’ ex-boyfriend informed her that Diddy and Sherman had shared a video of the alleged assault with him. It further alleges that the two men routinely engaged in this practice and profited from the videos they produced.
