Doechii’s mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal has been hailed as one of the year’s best projects. But she’s just getting started. The Tampa native is gearing up to release her official debut album in 2025.

During an interview with Variety, Doechii said that fans can expect her LP to be released next year.

“All I can think about is this album, so I’m just looking forward to making more hits, making more music, and achieving more of my goals,” she said. “That’s it.”

While Alligator Bites Never Heal has garnered critical acclaim, the “Alter Ego” rapper dropped the project as a mixtape.

“I woke up one day and told my label, ‘I’m just going to make a mixtape,’” Doechii explained. She also admitted feeling the pressure that comes with the phrase “debut album” label.”

“I was able to birth this out of pure presence and creativity,” she said. “And I think I want to carry that with all of my projects and have that mentality moving forward.”

For the album, Doechii was nominated for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album at the upcoming Grammys. She also made history as the first woman to be nominated in the Best Rap Album category for a mixtape.

“It just shows how conceptual the music really was,” she said. “And for such a conceptual project to be a mixtape makes me very affirmed — that my ideas are great, and that people resonate with the music.”

To add to her growing list of accolades, the TDE rapper was named Variety‘s 2024 Hip Hop Disruptor.

Released on Aug.30, Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal landed at No.9 on Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2024 list. The track “Denial Is a River” is also on RS‘s Best Songs list at No. 68

Along with the album’s acclaim, Doechii gave an electric performance at NPR’s “Tiny Desk” and  “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”
