Donald Trump, 78, the newly elected 47th president of the United States, will return to the White House in 2025. The former president received 277 electoral votes on Election Day, November 5, in a close race against Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump was announced as the 47th President on Wednesday morning (Nov. 6) at 5:30 AM ET.

Donald Trump clinched the election with 270 electoral votes he earned after winning Wisconsin over Harris. Trump’s campaign featured multiple legal rulings against him and several assassination attempts. In May, a New York jury convicted him on 34 felony counts, making him the first president to enter the White House after a felony conviction.

Trump returns to office after serving as the country’s 45th President from 2017 to 2021. He would lose his re-election campaign to current U.S. President Joe Biden in 2021. President Biden stepped down for re-election earlier this year.

Kamala Harris entered the race after being elected by the Democratic Party in May. Her campaign funding reached a billion dollars, and she was supported by the biggest names in pop culture, including LeBron James, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Barack Obama.

Donald Trump received support from Hip-Hop stars Lil Pump, Waka Flocka Flame, Kodak Black, and Amber Rose. Trump and his wife, Melania, voted in Florida on Tuesday. He shared that this would be his last campaign ahead of victory.

Kamala Harris has not issued an official statement on the election yet. President Joe Biden has not issued an official statement on the election as of press time. The DNC has not issued an official statement on Trump becoming the next President yet.

Donald Trump will become the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025, at noon.
