Could a Dr. Dre and YG collaboration be on the way?

A video clip began circulating across social media on Sunday (June 23) of the billionaire producer telling the “Big Bank” hitmaker to contact him as they greeted each other at the Ken & Friends: The Pop Out concert in the Kia Forum. The two Compton natives were surprise guests for the Prime Video presentation.

“Call Me,” said Dr. Dre to YG with the phone call gesture.

As a Compton native, Dr. Dre signed several rappers from his hometown and made them legends like The Game and Kendrick Lamar. Snoop Dogg, Anderson .Paak, 50 Cent, and Eminem were legends under Dre’s guidance.

YG gained popularity in 2010 with his debut single “Toot It & Boot It.” He has released eight albums, including the 2014 classic My Krazy Life. In “Twist My Fingaz,” YG celebrates that he wasn’t dependent on Dr. Dre to succeed: “I was the only artist to make it out of the West without Dre.”

YG has been preparing for the release of an upcoming album with a series of new singles, including “Knocka,” “Weird,” and “Shake.” The upcoming album follows his 2022 album, I Got Issues, featuring the hit song “Scared Money.”

YG was among many celebrities at Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” music video shoot in Compton, California, on Saturday (June 22). Others at the shoot include Roddy Richh, DJ Mustard, Thundercat, Black Hippy, Bobbi Althoff, and Steve Lacy.

Dr. Dre’s long-awaited album, “Detox,” has been developing for 22 years. After receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Dr. Dre revealed that new albums by former proteges Snoop Dogg and Eminem would be arriving this summer.

Before Snoop and Eminem, Marsha Ambrosius will release her anticipated album, Casablanco, executive-produced by Dr. Dre, on June 28.
