Speculation around Lil Wayne performing at the Super Bowl has ignited a fresh conversation about Drake being tapped for the iconic halftime show. As fans continue to debate whether Kendrick Lamar will take the stage next year, rumors surfaced that Drake had declined multiple offers to perform.
On the “Rory & Mal” podcast, Mal suggested that the Toronto rapper has been sought after by the NFL for years but opted out every time. “Drake has been offered the Super Bowl show for some years now and has turned it down. Probably four years, he’s been offered to perform at the Super Bowl, said no for whatever reason,” Mal shared.
However, Bloomberg’s Randall Williams provided a different story, stating that several NFL sources refuted the claims about Drake. “NFL sources told me in the five years the NFL has been partnered with Roc Nation, the two parties have never offered Drake the Super Bowl Halftime Show. One source said, ‘it’s a blatant lie,’” Williams tweeted.
Despite the circulating rumors, neither Drake nor Roc Nation has commented on the situation, keeping fans in the dark. At the same time, Lil Wayne has publicly addressed his disappointment over not being invited to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans, expressing that he felt “hurt” by the snub.
In a twist to the story, Nicki Minaj recently claimed that Roc Nation’s decision to favor Kendrick Lamar over Wayne stemmed from a personal vendetta against her, Birdman, and Drake. This accusation has added more fuel to the ongoing conversation, creating further tension in the hip-hop community.
