Drake drew a sharp response from DeMar DeRozan after his courtside taunts during the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings game. DeRozan, once a Toronto mainstay and now a Sacramento star, returned to Canada for the first time since his cameo in Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us” video and his performance at Lamar’s Pop Out concert. Throughout the game, Drake, according to reports, fixed a piercing stare on DeRozan from courtside, lobbing a series of cutting remarks at the 6-foot-6 Compton native.

He stated in an interview on Canada’s TSN network: “If you ever put up a DeRozan banner, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.” “Unfortunately, we’re playing this goof tonight, but it is what it is.” As DeRozan’s game-tying three-pointer fell short, Drake’s taunt rang out courtside: “Fuck outta here, pussy,” celebrating the Raptors’ hard-fought 131-128 victory.

After the game, when questioned on Drake’s vow to dismantle his imaginary banner, DeRozan quipped, “He’s gonna have a long way to climb, I’ll tell you that.” He then posted a clip on his Instagram Stories featuring Chris Tucker’s character from Friday, joking that he only acts tough when the local menace, Deebo, isn’t watching.

DeRozan Stands Firm in Loyalty to Kendrick Amid Drake’s Influence

In a recent interview, DeRozan articulated his loyalty to Kendrick while acknowledging his admiration for both the Compton rapper and Drake. He voiced, “At the end of the day, I’m from Compton. My city, where I’m from, where I was born, where my family still lives, that comes first before anything.” “I feel like any real person would understand that. It’s so crazy because my second home became Toronto, that has one of the greatest [rappers] of all time coming from there too.”

The Kings star revealed he hasn’t communicated with Drake since his ongoing conflict with Kendrick began this spring. In addition to his appearance in the “Not Like Us” video, DeRozan received a mention from Lamar in the hit diss track. K. Dot rhymes about the NBA All-Star’s 2018 exit from the Raptors, a team for which Drake serves as an ambassador: “I’m glad DeRoz came home, y’all didn’t deserve him neither.”
