Eddie Murphy is an iconic comedian and one the most beloved actors of all time. For the first time, he will be sharing his amazing journey with the world with a forthcoming documentary.
Titled EDDIE, the documentary “chronicles his meteoric rise from teen comic phenom to Saturday Night Live breakout and stand-up supernova to box-office titan” Tudum reports. The documentary captures incredible the evolution of Eddie Murphy from a teenage sensation to a major force in Hollywood.
In this “intimate portrait, the Oscar-nominated actor opens up his home and dives deep into his eclectic career of nearly 50 years.”
Throughout the highly-anticipated doc, Murphy spakes on his immense filmography that spans more than 40 years of amazing performances. Hwoe’s worked across several genres such as comedy, action, drama, animation, musicals, and family fare.
Along with Murphy, friends, co-stars, directors, and fellow comics give their insight into his iconic career, and his undeniable influence on the entertainment industry.
After becoming the breakout star during his tenure on SNL, Murphy starred in 48 Hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, and Harlem Nights. He went on to star in Boomerang, The Nutty Professor franchise, the Shrek franchise, and received an Oscar for her performance in Dreamgirls.
Along with EDDIE, he will be starring in Blue Falcon, a two-hander action comedy where he plays a retired superspy who is coming back for one more case.
After taking some time off, Murphy has been releasing films at a high clip over the last several years. He starred in Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F reprising one of his signature roles. In 2023, he starred opposite Tracee Ellis Ross in the Christmas-themed film Candy Cane Lane and You People with Jonah Hill
Most recently, he appeared in Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music on NBC.
Murphy is also teaming up with Dreamgirls‘ Bill Condon on a biopic centered on Parliament Funkadelic icon George Clinton.
