Fat Joe recently revealed that he’s been managing diabetes since his teenage years, and while Ozempic played a role in his weight loss journey, it was just one part of his long-standing health efforts. He emphasized that years of discipline, dieting, and exercise were key components of his transformation, well before Ozempic even existed.
Unlike other celebrities who may secretly use weight-loss drugs, Fat Joe is open about how Ozempic helped him shed pounds. The Bronx rapper told Us Weekly that alongside taking the medication, he made significant dietary changes that contributed to his 200-pound weight loss. “Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff,” Joe said, referring to the carbs he had to reduce, including bread, pasta, and rice. He even admits to cutting off the corners of his toast to maintain balance and moderation.
Joe’s slimmer figure will be front and center at the BET Hip Hop Awards, which he’s hosting. His openness about using Ozempic highlights the ongoing discussion around the drug, which has sparked debate in Hollywood this year. Not everyone is a fan, though. Fitness expert Jillian Michaels expressed concerns, suggesting there may be long-term psychological effects from relying on such medications and urging Americans to rethink their food choices.
Fat Joe, however, has been committed to health advocacy for a long time. He’s even been working with politicians to tackle hidden healthcare costs, further demonstrating his dedication to health beyond weight loss.
