In an unfortunate turn of events, Florida up-and-coming rapper Foolio has been shot and killed in Tampa, according to reports. The Jacksonville native’s death was recently confirmed by his lawyer, Lewis Fusco. Foolio (real name Charles Jones) had just celebrated his 26th birthday. Amid throwing a party in an Airbnb, the rapper and his crew were thrown out of the residence. Fusco says he then checked into a Holiday Inn, where he was “ambushed” in the parking lot.
Following the shooting incident, the Tampa Police offered a statement: “The victim in this morning’s shooting is believed to be Charles Jones,” the press release read. “Positive identification is pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office.” According to the police, at least three other people were injured during the shooting. A woman claiming to be the rapper’s girlfriend shared a post via X: “Y’all took my boyfriend from me. I hate you all, and I won’t be the only one crying.”
The Rapper grew to fame in 2018
Foolio (or Julio Foolio), rose to fame in 2018 after dropping his popular single, “Coming Up.” The track offered a gritty example of the tough life the rapper had lived. He has been linked with a hip-hop collective named KTA. Prior to his death, Foolio had nearly 1,000,000 followers on Instagram. His YouTube account at the time of his death had over 600,000 subscribers. When it came to views, he amassed more than 100,000 views on his music videos. The rapper often talked about his arduous journey in the music industry.
Back in 2021, the rapper had been involved in another shooting incident near his hometown of Jacksonville. The suspects are still at large as the investigation moves forward.
