The Remix: The Finale concert in Fortnite shattered records, drawing more than 14 million concurrent players and over 3 million online viewers, making it the platform’s largest in-game concert to date.
The event featured electrifying performances by Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, and Eminem, alongside a moving posthumous tribute to Juice WRLD. It surpassed the previous record of 12.3 million concurrent players set by Travis Scott’s 2020 Astronomical concert. However, it fell just short of the overall event record of 15.3 million players who joined the Galactus event in 2020.
The 15-minute digital concert transported players through vibrant “dreamscapes” tailored to each artist’s set, creating an immersive audiovisual experience. The finale honored Juice WRLD with the world premiere of his track Empty Out Your Pockets, a performance that transformed players into shimmering crystal butterflies—a poignant nod to the rapper’s enduring legacy. This marks Fortnite’s third large-scale music event, following the success of Travis Scott and Ariana Grande’s groundbreaking concerts.
Fortnite’s official X (formerly Twitter) account celebrated the milestone, declaring the event a new record for in-game concerts. The timing of Remix coincided with the conclusion of Chapter 5, setting the stage for Chapter 6, a Japanese-inspired installment launching December 6.
Forbes reported that the concert’s success was bolstered by a free Juice WRLD in-game skin available during the week leading up to the event, further engaging the player base. Fortnite has consistently revolutionized how fans interact with music, hosting events with artists like Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and Metallica. Unlike traditional streaming platforms, the game offers a dynamic, participatory experience that fosters deeper connections between artists and fans.
Epic Games continues to push boundaries with its Creator Economy 2.0 program, announced last year. The initiative allows creators of Fortnite “islands” and experiences to earn a share of revenue based on player engagement. Epic allocates 40% of net revenue from in-game purchases into an engagement pool, ensuring creators benefit directly from their contributions to the platform’s ever-evolving ecosystem.
The Remix concert cements Fortnite’s position as a trailblazer in blending music and gaming, offering artists innovative ways to connect with global audiences while reshaping the entertainment landscape.
