Freeway has been honored by Philadelphia in a very special way, his very own day.
On Thursday (May 30), the rapper known for representing the City of Brotherly Love with his debut album Philadelphia Freeway (2003) took to social media to reflect on the momentous occasion. He described it as “a privilege that is rare to hold.
“I’m certain that if my children and my father were here today, they would be filled with immense joy,” he began, accompanied by a video compilation of the ceremony.
Adding, “This day has been a remarkable highlight in my journey, a privilege that is rare to hold: the city of Philadelphia has graced me with an exceptional honor, thanks to Councilman Kenyatta Johnson @phlcouncilpresident of the second district. Henceforth, June 1st will be celebrated as Philadelphia Freeway Day, a testament to the city’s spirit of brotherhood.
“My deepest appreciation goes out to all for their steadfast love and support towards the Freedom Thinkers Academy. 💪🏾❤️🤲🏾🔥🔥💯💯💯 🎥 @slimbojimboyo #fta🌎.”

In a related news, back in April, the “What We Do” lyricist revealed that he had commemorated the memory of his late daughter, Harmony, by establishing a new scholarship fund. This initiative aims to support nearly two dozen female Muslim students.
“In cherished memory of my beautiful daughter Harmony, who courageously battled cancer and left us in 2021, he wrote via Instagram. “the @360traininganddevelopment and @freedomthinkersacademy bestowed the Ahebbak Harmony Girls Scholarship upon 18 Female Muslim students 🌟,” he began. “It’s a divine blessing to give back, and may these young ladies, with God’s grace, soar toward their dreams.🙏💕”
The initiative, dubbed the Freedom Thinkers Academy, pledges “to provide awareness in music, health, and education through discussions, events, mentoring, face-to-face, virtual create-it-yourself (CIY) music workshops, and a workforce development program for individuals who share his experiences and passion.”
