Hot 97’s Funk Flex went on a furious on-air rant on Sunday (October 27) at former Bad Boy rap star-turned-politician Shyne after the trailer for the Belizean’s upcoming documentary was released.

The legendary radio DJ’s rant was triggered by Shyne’s recent comments about his infamous 1999 nightclub shooting involving mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Shyne labels himself the “scapegoat” in the incident that resulted in the artist serving eight years in prison. Shyne refers to himself as “Diddy’s fall guy” in the documentary’s trailer.

“When somebody tries to say they the scapegoat or they was used… it’s been bothering me,” Flex said about Shyne’s involvement in the 1999 shooting during Sunday’s rant. “And I’m gonna keep it a buck. Shyne, I love you bro, and I know what you’ve been though—no I don’t—but you’re a liar. You’re a stone-cold-faced liar, Shyne.”

Flex would give his accounts of what happened in the club shooting. He added: “Let me tell you about that night in that club. I don’t know what people are talking about Shyne was the streets. He was a punk. So all of that street talk. You don’t ever come my way with that. Puff had to keep people off of you from beating you to death. Had to keep D-Roc from strangling you, Shyne.”

Next, the DJ described Shyne’s ego, leading to an altercation with D-Roc, who is Biggie Small’s best friend. “You remember when D-Roc had to beat you up in that studio ’cause you were feeling yourself?”  Flex said. “You lucky you signed to Bad Boy ’cause if you did not sign to Bad Boy and you signed to Def Jam or anywhere else they were gonna pound you out like the day they beat you up at that studio.”

To conclude his rant, Funk Flex addressed the upcoming documentary. He went off on Shyne and everyone involved, including a few who had prior issues with the politician. “Everyone in that documentary wanted to spit in your face, Shyne. I don’t care what friends I lose tonight, I’m saying it: every single one of them,” said Funk Flex.

The Honorable Shyne premieres on Hulu on November 18, helmed by director Marcus A. Clarke and a team of producers that includes Jason Perez, Dwayne Bray, and David Dennis Jr., among others.
