While she has everyone from LeBron James to Rihanna singing her songs, GloRilla sometimes misses being a “regular person.”

In her new cover story in this month’s VIBE magazine, the Memphis rap star reflected on her personal growth and what she misses from the past. “Everyone evolves. Nobody remains the same,” she told the publication. “We often claim to be the same person, but true growth requires change. To excel, you must evolve. I’m not the same person I was as a little girl because I’ve grown up.”

The “TGIF” hitmaker also spoke about the challenges of fame, particularly with her family. “I miss not being treated like a celebrity,” she said. “Even family sometimes treats you differently. Everywhere you go, people want a picture or something. Sometimes you just want to be a regular person.”

Throughout the interview, GloRilla’s candid reflections provide a deeper insight into the personal costs of her rising fame, highlighting a common struggle for many artists in the limelight.

Her cousin and fellow rap star Lil Uzi Vert recently shared similar sentiments. In 2023, the “Just Wanna Rock” artist hinted at retiring from the music industry after one final album, expressing a desire for a normal life over the perks of fame.

In April, GloRilla released her project Ehhthang Ehhthang. The project featured collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Boston Richey, Moneybagg Yo, and Finesse2tymes. Its standout track, “Wanna Be,” was remixed by Cardi B, while “Aite” ignited a brief exchange with City Girls’ JT.

GloRilla is on tour with Megan Thee Stallion and fresh off performing at last weekend’s BET Awards 2024.
