Gunna is working to offer Georgia families financial relief through a new initiative. The WUNNA rapper —with the help of the Black Music Action Coalition — will support up to 30 families. Residents will receive at least $1,000 a month. The project is named the Gunna x BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program. Families will also receive mentorship across various fields — music, film, fashion, and tech. Applications are currently available online.
The initiative will receive support from the Great Giveaway Foundation (led by the rapper), in collaboration with the Black Music Action Coalition. Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, the organization’s Co-Founder said in a statement the organization’s mission is to “achieve systemic equity.” He adds, “Black Americans are too often locked out of critical opportunities and pathways to climb the socioeconomic ladder despite being central to every cultural and financial movement in this country’s history.”
YSL MONDO SAYS GUNNA ISN’T A ‘RAT’
That said, the rapper still faces hard criticism for allegedly snitching in exchange for his freedom amid the YSL RICO trial. Despite initially condemning Gunna, YSL Mondo recently walked back his comments. He also wanted to make it clear that Gunna, is in fact, not a “rat.” Earlier this month, he took to Instagram Stories to share his frustration. “I should’ve never spoken about Gunna because technically he didn’t rat,” Mondo wrote in an Instagram story.
“He just folded under pressure and should’ve stayed loyal until everything was over. All the originals know he didn’t do anything and wasn’t around from the beginning.” Mondo adds, “He wasn’t going to do any real time regardless. I feel bad because now a guy who is an actual informant is running around the city getting glorified and smiling like he didn’t send multiple people to jail. I was mad and hurt seeing my brother go through this after he uplifted so many people.”
