Ice Cube shared his proudest career achievement.

While on Iman Shumpert’s Iman Amongst Men podcast, Cube was asked about his “proudest career accolade. He shares, “Wow… I would say Friday because I was kinda out of my element as far as writing and producing. Doing a comedy, everybody was surprised at the time because there was nothing comedic in my music.”

“We had funny little parts in our music, but everything was hardcore so everybody thought I was tripping a little bit, like, ‘Damn, Ice Cube’s coming with a comedy?’”

He goes on to say his hit single “It Was A Good Day” gave him the confidence to write Friday.

“I learned from ‘It Was a Good Day.’ To me, it was the song version of Friday,” he added. “It’s me coming out the box, because everything was hard and then here I go [and] flip it.

“I’m a reality rapper so if I’m having a good day, I should be able to rap about that, too.”

Ice Cube previously shared an update for the next Friday installment.

While visiting Flavor Flav’s SiriusXM show “Flavor of the Week”, Ice Cube, who starred in and wrote the original three movies: “Friday” (1995), “Next Friday” (2000) and “Friday After Next” (2002), says a Friday 4 has some traction.

“We’re working on it. We finally got some traction with Warner Bros.,” Ice Cube said. “They have new leadership, my man Mike De Luca, who used to be at New Line when I first started, when I first did the first ‘Friday’ and ‘Players Club’ and ‘All About the Benjamins.’ Mike De Luca was there…So, now he’s running Warner Bros. And him and my man Michael Gruber was like, ‘Yo, what the fuck is going on with “Friday”? Man, let’s get this shit back online.’”
