Ice Spice takes a glass half full approach as her highly-anticipated debut album Y2K! struggles to gain traction.
After months of teasing her debut album Y2K!, featuring star collaborations with Central Cee, Travis Scott, and Gunna, Ice Spice released it on July 26th. Initially projected to sell around 20k units in its first week, the album struggled to gain momentum and ended up moving only 28k units.
Despite facing online criticism, the ‘Deli’ rapper has chosen to rise above, expressing gratitude to her supporters for their unwavering support.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday (August 5), she wrote: “Like..? did 15k so thank u to everyone who supported me then & thank u to all the new supporters,” She added. “Y2K! WORLD TOUR been so fun that these numbers are cool and all but b*tch u should of seen that Boston CROWD last night. NYC TOMORROW.”

In January Ice Spice, recognized as one of Hip Hop’s rising stars, announced in an interview with The Today Show that her debut album would be released in 2024.
During the interview, she revealed the album’s title, Y2K!, referencing her birthdate of January 1, 2000. Ice Spice expressed her excitement about the album, highlighting some “crazy collaborations” she had secured. The announcement followed the release of “Think U The Shit (Fart),” accompanied by a visual treatment.
In 2022, Ice Spice burst onto the scene with her debut single, “Munch (Feelin’ U),” which led to high-profile collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and PinkPantheress. In 2023, she released the 10-track EP Like? through UMG.
In related news, Ice Spice is nearing the end of her first major tour, which kicked off on July 4th at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. The international trek included stops in London, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, and more, with upcoming dates in sunny Los Angeles, Houston, Denver, and Atlanta, among others.
