In 1996, the trio of Jay-Z, Kareem “Biggs” Burke, and Dame Dash got together to start up one of the most legendary record labels of all time Roc-A-Fella records.
For much of the late 1990’s to the mid-2000’s the stable included some of the hottest talents in hip hop, and had the hits and success to back it up. At one time the roster included Memphis Bleek, Beanie Siegal, Freeway, Kanye West, The Diplomats, Young Gunz and more. Is it time to tell their story through a biopic?
Biggs sat down with Revolt to tease an upcoming project.
“Yeah, I’m working on it now,” he said. “It’ll probably be separate stories of JAY, Damon, and myself. Showing us as kids to understand what we’ve went through—the pain and hardships. Being evicted, living in a shelter, and staying in people’s houses and floors for two years. Jay losing his father at four years old when his father left him. Dame losing his mom at 14 years old and having to put himself through private school… there were a lot of hardships and things we went through that actually gave us strength.”
Who do you think would play Jay-Z?
Would you watch a Roc-A-Fella biopic right now? #EbroinTheMorning
