J. Cole’s upcoming Dreamville Festival sees last-minute changes as R&B acts drop out, making way for Hip Hop heavyweights to join.
Taking to social media on Monday (April 1) the festival revealed — to the disappointment of fans — on social media, that Chris Brown and Muni Long are no longer performing due to unforeseen circumstances. Stepping in to close opening day is 50 Cent, fresh off his Final Lap Tour success.
“We are excited to share that 50 Cent and Hunxho have been added to the lineup! See you this weekend! [sunflower emoji],” the message begins. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Chris Brown and Muni Long are no longer performing at Dreamville Fest.”
“You did a good job at really fucking up my day….” wrote one user in response to the update. “Wrap this April fools shit up by noon. Don’t piss me off,” another comment reads, hoping that the announcement was just a poorly executed pun.
Another suggested further lineup changes writing, “Well since yall still making changes, tell Brent to pull up [laughing emoji].”
Set against the backdrop of Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina on April 6 and 7, the festival features a diverse lineup including Nicki Minaj, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Jeezy, Sexyy Red, Lil Yachty, Rae Sremmurd, JID, and J. Cole himself, among many others.
The Dreamville Festival shakeup closely follows Kendrick Lamar’s shots at Cole and Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” from their album WE DON’T TRUST YOU. The release sparked conspiracy theories about a Future-Drake fallout and the “big three” concept in Hip Hop — with each party cementing themselves at the top of the rap game.
