Hip-hop is headed to Viva Las Vegas this Summer.
Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, and Doug E. Fresh will perform a residency at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in DJ Cassidy’s “Pass The Mic Live” show starting in July. The residency, the first major hip-hop event on the Las Vegas Strip, had pre-sale tickets available over the weekend.
“See you in the desert,” wrote DJ Cassidy in an Instagram post featuring the hip-hop legends.
The show is based on DJ Cassidy’s popular series, where he invites famous musicians to perform their greatest hits. Cassidy’s show started in Spring 2020 to connect people worldwide with their favorite musicians during the pandemic. The maestro’s “Pass The Mic” has transformed how we interact with our favorite artists and songs.
Cassidy hosted ten TV specials featuring 220 legendary stars over five decades, including New Edition, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, and many more. Last year, the “Pass The Mic Live! Tour” sold out arenas nationwide. In 2023, a sold-out “Pass The Mic Live! Tour” event was held at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall to celebrate hip-hop’s 50th birthday.
Cassidy feels honored that Hip Hop will perform a show of this magnitude on the Las Vegas Strip, joining a legacy of the greatest shows of all time.
“Just as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop united in Las Vegas to form the Rat Pack, one of the greatest shows of all time, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, and I will unite to create an experience that will go down in Las Vegas history,” explains DJ Cassidy. “In the great tradition of Liberace, Elvis Presley, Wayne Newton, and Siegfried & Roy, we will redefine showmanship in ways The Strip hasn’t witnessed since the days of The Sands and The International. Every night will be a unique one-time-only event, black tie (optional) of course.”
The shows are scheduled for July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2024, starting at 8 p.m.
“Pass The Mic Live!” is a show presented by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment in collaboration with music mogul Steve Rifkind, founder of Loud and SRC Records.
