Jay-Z’s Roc Nation embarks on yet another philanthropic effort, this time focusing on the youth of Philadelphia.

On Friday (June 7), Roc announced an initiative that will provide about $300 million in scholarships to students in grades K-12. The funding aims to give underprivileged kids the opportunity to attend prestigious private schools and various educational institutions across The City of Brotherly Love.

It’s worth noting that scholarship amounts will vary depending on age and education level. Half-day kindergarteners score $2,500, K-8th graders get $5,000, and high schoolers hit the jackpot with $10,000. Meanwhile, special needs kids of any age can bag a cool $15,000. However, there’s a caveat. In order to qualify for these scholarships, families income must be below 250 percent of the federal poverty threshold, which is currently $75,000 for a family of four.

“We have enjoyed such a special connection with Philadelphians, so we’ve made it our mission to invest in the long-term success of the city’s changemakers,” said Roc Nation Managing Director of Philanthropy Dania Diaz in a statement, Billboard reports. “Impact starts with the students and with awareness. We want to empower the youth and families with the knowledge to pursue their scholastic dreams, make their voices heard and become the leaders of tomorrow.”

Jay-Z joins a growing list of MCs with a special connection to Philly. Earlier this week, Freeway – whose debut album, “Philadelphia Freeway” (2003), seemingly nodded to the city – was honored by Philadelphia in a very special way: his very own day.

“I’m certain that if my children and my father were here today, they would be filled with immense joy,” he began, accompanied by a video compilation of the ceremony.

Adding, “This day has been a remarkable highlight in my journey, a privilege that is rare to hold: the city of Philadelphia has graced me with an exceptional honor, thanks to Councilman Kenyatta Johnson @phlcouncilpresident of the second district. Henceforth, June 1st will be celebrated as Philadelphia Freeway Day, a testament to the city’s spirit of brotherhood.

“My deepest appreciation goes out to all for their steadfast love and support towards the Freedom Thinkers Academy. 💪🏾❤️🤲🏾🔥🔥💯💯💯 🎥 @slimbojimboyo #fta🌎.”
