Congratulations are in order!

According to recent reports, Jay-Z has achieved a revolutionary accomplishment in his
career. The Brooklyn rapper, entrepreneur, and business legend has become the first black male
artist to receive multi-platinum status. This is a major landmark for Hov, and there’s only more to
come following this success. Throughout the span of his career, Jay has made numerous timeless projects, now having 10 multi-platinum albums under his belt. Projects such as The Black Album (2003) and The Blueprint 3 (2009) have hit double and quadruple platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Following Mariah Carey’s achievement for this title, Jay is the second black artist to acquire this award. As a whole, Jay-Z’s platinum catalog contains 10 solo projects and two collaborative albums with Kanye West and Linkin Park. Additionally, Hov has led the Billboard 200 14 times in his career, making him the most successful Hip-Hop artist to dominate the charts.

Earlier this year, in June, Hov even earned his first diamond plaque with “N* in Paris,” following its accomplishment of a 9x-platinum ranking the year prior. Billboard’s title of No. 1 rapper of all time was given to Hov back in February, only adding to his roster of major awards. Considering Hov’s “regal-scented rhymes that speak to the struggle,” cultural influence, entrepreneurial leadership, 24 Grammy winnings, 14 No. 1 albums, and 140 million record sales, Billboard states his “longevity, the breadth of his accomplishments, and what he’s meant to Hip Hop from a musical, cultural and financial standpoint for the last three decades” led him to his major success.
