Broward County Sheriffs reportedly cleared rap star Jim Jones of any wrongdoing after a wild 2-on-1 brawl on the escalator at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Saturday (May 4).
TMZ broke the news as the incident was caught on cell phone video showing the 47-year-old recording artist tossing a man down the escalator while fending off a second man engaging in the altercation. One of the men had to receive medical attention for a head wound.
In the police report, Jones stated that he was confronted and pushed by fellow passenger James Dos Santos while collecting his belongings before the airplane stopped. Another passenger, Alexander Lekht, also got involved and started screaming at Jones before authorities arrived. Jones declined to file a report with authorities at the gate.
The report claims that Lekht continued to harass Jones heading to baggage claim. Lekht repeatedly flinched at Jim Jones, which caused him to react. The video shows Lekht and Santos throwing wild punches at Jones on the escalator as he defends himself.
Jones is seen on video yelling at Sheriffs that the two men were jumping him and it’s self-defense. Broward County sheriffs would agree with Jones after reviewing and collecting statements from multiple parties.
While sustaining a bruise underneath his eye, Jones declined to press charges against the two men. Later that evening, he hosted an event in Miami at Taboo.
In other news, Jim Jones will perform at the Masters of Ceremony event inside the Barclay Center on Saturday, June 29. The lineup includes Fabolous, DaBaby, Ja Rule, The Lox, Ghostface Killah, and Jeremih.
