On June 8th, NYC and worldwide officially announced Global Hip Hop Day, the first of it’s kind.
The announcement was one for the record books and HOT 97 lead the charge for this historic day. Beginning with panels featuring some of today’s biggest artists and executives across different industries, Global Hip Hop Day then went to the Bronx where NYC and the Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz proclaimed 1520 Sedgewick Ave, as the birth place of hip hop.
It was incredible to see hip hop from all generations all come together to watch the unveiling of “Hip Hop Blvd” and a moment that will be forever embedded into hip hop culture.
We wrapped up the day with a block party and a special toast to one of hip hop’s global icons, Ryan Leslie for his work in music and infusing it with the world of tech.
