Katt Williams recently revisited his explosive Club Shay Shay interview during an appearance at Vulture Festival. Reflecting on his headline-making chat with Shannon Sharpe at the start of 2024, Williams admitted that he’d gone into the podcast with a specific goal: to damage the careers of certain comedians. Known for his sharp critique and unapologetic humor, Williams didn’t hold back in his comments about fellow comedians Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, and Tiffany Haddish.

As he explained at Vulture Festival, he believed he had cracked the social media algorithm before appearing on Club Shay Shay, planning to leverage it for maximum impact. “I [set] out to kill the careers of the people I was talking about,” he admitted. “But it was so vicious that I erased all of the knockout blows and just left the jabs, so that the comic I’m talking about knows, ‘I know your real story, motherf*ckers.’ Ima tell this, but you know what else I know.”

During the discussion, Williams also joked about the ongoing controversies surrounding Diddy, despite the Bad Boy founder’s denials. Williams clarified his stance as an “outsider” to Hollywood’s elite social circles. “I’m anti-establishment, so I can never be the establishment,” he said. “Even if I’m at the Diddy party, I’m there to tell. I’m there to see, Who the f*ck is in here and what do y’all get from being in here? So, nobody likes to have me around. I’m there for bad intentions.”

Williams went on to address Saturday Night Live’s impersonation of him following his Club Shay Shay appearance. He explained, “A lot of times, when people are doing an impression of you, they’re really showing you how they feel about you. So, for ‘Saturday Night Live’ to have an impression of me and have a woman do that, it means they think I’m a b****.” He also reflected on how this portrayal affected his career.
