Kendrick Lamar has been offered a lifetime of complimentary meals at Tam’s Burgers in Compton, the location prominently featured in his “Not Like Us” music video. In an interview with TMZ, Spiro Vovos, owner of the Compton branch, expressed gratitude for the significant increase in business following the video’s release on July 4th. While business has since returned to normal levels, Vovos stated they were still thankful for the exposure and decided to extend the gesture of a lifetime of free meals to Kendrick as a token of appreciation.
Tam’s Burgers also unveiled a new mural on their building dedicated to Kendrick and the song. In the video, Kendrick and Mustard arrive in style, pulling up in a Lamborghini and filming both inside and outside the restaurant. Having known Kendrick since his teenage years, the owners allowed filming without charge, opting instead for prominent placement of their logo in the video.
Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” video, released recently, includes subtle references aimed at his rival Drake, such as smashing an owl-shaped piñata, a playful jab at Drake’s OVO logo. The video also features Kendrick dancing with his fiancée and children, subtly involving them in the ongoing narrative linked to Drake. Additionally, the video is co-directed by Kendrick’s longtime manager Dave Free, who also makes a cameo appearance.
Within its first week, the music video has garnered over 49 million views, underscoring Kendrick Lamar’s enduring influence and the public’s keen interest in his artistic expressions and lyrical narratives.
