Kendrick Lamar joins Sza for an interview in Harper’s BAZAAR.

During the interview, K. Dot opened up about the infamous diss track “Not Like Us.” The rapper released the track as a diss to track, yet, it has since become very popular, gaining 158M views on YouTube.

Sza began the conversation, “can I ask you a hypermasculine question? You can also tell me to shut the f*ck up. What does “Not Like Us” mean to you?”

K. Dot laughs in response, “not like us? Not like us is the energy of who I am, the type of man I represent. Now, if you identify with the man that I represent …”

Sza asks him to, “break the man down for me?”

He continued: “this man has morals, he has values, he believes in something, he stands on something. He’s not pandering. He’s a man who can recognize his mistakes and not be afraid to share the mistakes and can dig deep down into fear-based ideologies or experiences to be able to express them without feeling like he’s less of a man. If I’m thinking of “Not Like Us,” I’m thinking of me and whoever identifies with that.”

Road To Super Bowl halftime:

The interview comes ahead of Kendrick’s upcoming performance at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime. “What the deal everybody, my name is Kendrick Lamar,” the video begins. “[And] I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up?” K. Dot revealed in a previous video.

He continues: “I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship, right? No round twos. I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans [on] February 9, 2025. Wear your best dress too, even if you’re watching from home. Let’s go.” Lamar wrote in the post’s caption: “Super Bowl LIX. New Orleans. February 2025.#AppleMusicHalftime.”
