Kendrick Lamar Releases “Not Like Us” Music Video

Kendrick Lamar dropped the highly-anticipated “Not Like Us” music video on Independence Day after teaser photos surfaced across social media on Wednesday (July 3).

Directed by Dave Free and K. Dot-himself, the Pulitzer Prize-winning recording artist gathered Los Angeles celebrities and the city of Compton to dance to the bouncy Mustard production. Lamar previews a new track before the viral song begins. Throughout the visual, he taunts his rival, Drake, with a tame Owl, breaking an Owl-designed pinata and displaying a “No OVHoes were harmed” disclaimer.

Shot in Compton, the video features YG, Roddy Richh, Tommy The Clown, DeMar DeRozan, Brandon T. Jackson, Hit-Boy, Big Hit, and more. As part of a united front, Black Hippy and TDE appear in the visual. The visual shows Kendrick’s wife and children dancing in a living room with the entertainer.

The Kia Forum began displaying the unified photo taken during the Ken & Friends: The Pop Out event on Juneteenth this week. On Prime Video, Kendrick and Los Angeles hip-hop performed a sold-out concert last month. The concert broke several streaming service records, including the most viewed content.

Kendrick celebrated the success of the diss track by buying a new mansion in Los Angeles. Drake would also buy a new property after the feud with a ranch in Texas.

In Toronto, Rick Ross had an altercation with fans after playing “Not Like Us” earlier this week. The Bawse’s security guard and DJ were assaulted in the melee while the rap star was untouched.

“Not Like Us” continues to reign at the top of the Billboard charts. The song and its diss tracks, “Euphoria” and “Like That,” are available on all streaming platforms.

A new Kendrick Lamar album was reportedly in the works before the feud; however, no word of a release has been confirmed.
