Kai Cenat pulled Kevin Hart out of music retirement for AMP’s 2024 Freshman Cypher, released on Sunday (July 28).
Joining Chocolate Droppa and Cenat were fellow influencers Duke Dennis, Agent 00, chrisnxtdoor, Fanum, and ImDavisss, who gathered for an electrifying freestyle session on a New York City rooftop.
Chocolate Droppa, the resurrecting rap persona of Hart, kicked off the freestyle with a nod to J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar’s references to the “big three”—including Drake—in tracks like “First Person Shooter” and “Like That.” The comedian raps, “All this talk about the big three, fk that, them not me / Goddn, I’m mad / Aw s**t, you sad? / Well, it’s time to get glad ’cause I’m back, and I’m really mad.”
Continuing with his trademark humor and bravado, Hart added, “AMP, I’m with ’em now / I’m streamin’ with Kai now, what that mean? I don’t know / But I’m in it, you not.” Hart has made two appearances on Cenat’s Twitch livestreams, first in May and then in June with Druski.
Kevin Hart’s mixtape, Kevin Hart: What Now?, was released nearly eight years ago. Metro Boomin contributed several skits to that mixtape that featured Migos, T.I., Tink, Trey Songz, PnB Rock, Lil Yachty, and Chris Brown.
Cenat, whose freestyle followed Hart’s, also delivered some clever bars. He referenced his March broadcast with Tyla, where the “Water” singer declined his date request, rapping, “Heard you got a coupe; I got a coupe, but this a Benz, though / Kept it player, even when she tell me, ‘But we friends, though.’”
The Twitch streamer also took a subtle jab at XXL’s 2024 Freshman Class cyphers, declaring, “We heard the other cypher dropped; just didn’t nobody play it / Anytime I talk, make sure your ears wide like gauges.”
